Primary is where the foundations are laid properly or not at all. Reading fluency, number fact automaticity and legible handwriting are tracked child by child, not class by class, and we intervene early rather than waiting for an exam to reveal a gap.

Class 2 within primary

Where the emphasis goes in this stage
- Reading fluency assessed individually three times a year
- Mathematics taught concrete → pictorial → abstract
- Every child learns swimming and a musical instrument
- First exposure to structured science investigation in Class 3
