Admissions

The process, step by step

Six steps from first click to first day, usually about three weeks. Each one below says what happens, how long it takes, and what you should expect from us.

Steps
6
Typical duration
About 3 weeks
Application fee
None
  1. Submit the application

    About 10 minutes

The online form asks for the child's details, your contact information and the year group you are applying for.

    • There is no application fee. We removed it in 2020 because it was screening on the wrong thing.
    • You do not need documents at this stage. Upload comes later, after an offer.
    • Applying early does not improve your chances — we do not assess in order of receipt — but it does give you a wider choice of assessment slot.
  2. We acknowledge and allocate a slot

    Within 3 working days

The admissions office confirms receipt and offers you a choice of assessment appointments.

    • You will receive a reference number. Keep it — it is how you track the application.
    • If you have not heard from us in three working days, something has gone wrong. Call us.
  3. Assessment and conversation

    45 minutes on campus

For Nursery to Class 3 this is a play-based conversation. From Class 4 there is a short written paper in English and Mathematics.

    • The written paper is set one year below the applying grade. We are checking readiness, not coaching.
    • There is nothing to prepare for and no syllabus to revise. Please do not send your child to a tuition centre for this.
    • One parent joins the last fifteen minutes. Bring your questions — that part is for you, not for us.
  4. Decision

    Within 7 working days

An offer, a waitlist position with a number, or a decline with the reason stated.

    • Waitlist positions are numbered. We will tell you where you stand and how many moved last year.
    • If we decline, you will be told why. A vague decline is not useful to anybody.
  5. Documents and fee

    14 days to complete

Upload the required documents and pay the admission fee and first term tuition to confirm the place.

    • The place is held for fourteen days from the offer. Ask if you need longer — we would rather extend than lose a family to a deadline.
    • Original documents are verified once, on campus, and returned to you the same day.
  6. Joining

    Before the term starts

Uniform fitting, bus route allocation, portal access and a meeting with the form tutor before the first day.

    • Every new student is assigned a buddy in their class for the first month.
    • Mid-year joiners get the same buddy arrangement, which matters more in January than in June.

Guided by a member of staff

If a teacher or staff member has helped you through this process, there is a field on the application form to name them. It is optional and it does not affect the decision in any direction — we use it to know who in the school is actually helping families, which is information we would otherwise never have.

If something goes wrong

The most common failure is an acknowledgement email that lands in spam. If three working days pass with no word from us, call the admissions office directly on the number at the bottom of this page rather than waiting.

The second most common is a family missing the fourteen-day acceptance window because they were waiting on another school. Tell us — we will extend it. We would much rather hold a place a fortnight longer than lose a family to an administrative deadline.
